In an earlier post we reported that Intel was planning to release the second version of its education focused classmate PC.
The Intel-powered second-generation Classmate PC is very similar to the first one; except for the sleeker look and a few additions.
The Classmate 2 includes a 9-inch LCD display, a six-cell battery, 512MB RAM, 30GB HDD, integrated webcam, Intel Celeron M processor, and WiFi support. The Classmate PC will continue to support Microsoft Windows XP, and variants of a Linux-based operating system will also be available.
However the big news is that the Classmate 2 will be available directly to U.S consumers. Intel will offer different choices to manufacturers so each can tailor laptop models for a variety of education needs.
Amazon will stock the Classmate 2 PC called 2Go PC, manufactured by CTL, and available for $400.
