Solar Powered Lenovo "Blue Sky" A61e PC

With a lot of voices rising in support of the “Global Warming” issue currently. A lot of emphasis is being laid on the consumption of electricity around the world. Everyone has been talking about the use of renewable sources of energy like solar power and hydroelectricity to reduce the emission of gases resulting from thermal power plants.

In my view in addition to the alternate ways of power production, we should also try to build and use appliances that work on renewable sources like solar power. Currently there are hundreds or probably thousands of things powered by solar power ranging from a simple solar cooker to high tech automobiles.

But, because I have always been a computer savvy since my childhood. I always used to wonder can my PC be solar powered. The latest innovation from Lenovo has made my childhood imagination come true.

Ultra Efficient and Solar Powered Lenovo
Lenovo has recently came out with an Ultra efficient solar powered A61e PC. With its AMD Athlon X2 Dual-core Processor, it only takes up 45 watts, and can be powered by an optional solar panel. It's rumored to be the quietest Thinkcenter PC ever, smaller than the last one by 25%, and weighs less than 8 pounds. It is also an "EPEAT Gold rated PC" and Energy star 4.0 compliant.

But I wonder how many of us will actually go and buy this one. Designed for offices, it is priced at $399.

There is no doubt that Korea has raced far ahead of us in the mobile phone world. And LG’s KC1 is the latest from Korea. The phone offers fast speed that let you watch streaming videos and stuff that could only be done over WiFi earlier.

The fast speeds allow the phone to do stuff like remote PC control, streaming videos, video calls and other ridiculously high-bandwidth apps that you could only do over Wi-Fi before. The KC1 runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0.

Though it’s not yet available in the US, the phone is priced at around $750 in the Korean market.

Control Your iPod with Timex's i-Control Watch

Timex has teamed up with Apple for a watch called “Ironman iControl” watch, which pretty much looks like a standard workout watch. You must be thinking, what’s the big deal in that. Though it looks like an ordinary workout watch but if you carefully examine it has actually got iPod controls on it.

Timex Ironman iControl Watch
You must now be thinking, what’s these iPod control are for. This watch can communicate with your iPod via a little dongle that plugs into an iPod's universal docking port. Using these iPod controls on this watch you can actually play/pause, volume up and down, and go to the next/previous track on any iPod with a dock connector.

But we noted one thing while this watch worked absolutely fine with iPod Nano, it doesn't work at all with the iPod shuffle because it doesn't have a dock connector. What’s more, this watch also works with your Apple iPhone. You can control all the functions except for the fast forward or rewind controls. if you want to move a little forward, you'll have to do that with your iPhone. Because of the above limitation, it becomes useless to use this watch with the iPhone.

Besides those iPod features, the watch also contains the full complement of training features of other Timex Ironman watches, including a 50-lap memory recall chronograph, the ability to store training logs with your current workout, a multimode countdown timer, two interval timers for speed and endurance training, and three customizable alarms. It's also water resistant to 100 meters.

The watch is priced at $125, and if you are planning to buy this watch only for controlling your iPod, I think you better stay out of that.

Yamaha BODiBEAT - Synchronizes Music to the Movement of Workout

Yamaha BODiBEAT
Yamaha has launched a music player BODiBEAT that is especially designed for sports and fitness freaks. Yamaha claims that BODiBEAT is the first music playback device that synchronizes your music to the movement of your workout. It matches music to the pace of your workout.

How it does that? Easy, it monitors your pulse and then selects a song that matches the pace of your exercise.

The wonderful toy will cost you $ 300 and it has a 512 MB built in flash memory. As it comes on a wristband, it eliminates the need for a separate holder. The battery back up of the player is 12 hours.

The BODiBEAT plays standard audio files like MP3. It also comes preloaded with Yamaha beat loops which randomly remix themselves and follow the pace of your workout.

But I wonder, will this player be able to find the song to match my pace.

iPhone - Sexiest Phone to Ever Hit the Market

iPhone’s brilliant display and slim design puts it in a design class that even the LG Prada and the HTC Touch can't match. iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone from Apple that syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email.

iPhone’s Beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen display with 480x320 pixel resolution translates into brilliant colors, sharp graphics, and fluid movements and touch controls lets you enjoy your content — including music, videos, TV shows, and movies. It also lets you sync your content from the iTunes library on your PC or Mac.

Apple iPhone

iPhone features a rich HTML email client and Safari — the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device — which automatically syncs bookmarks from your PC or Mac. Safari also includes built-in Google and Yahoo! search. iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi.

It also can be a rather multi-step affair to even make a call, since there's no home screen speed dial or voice recognition, and the phonebook can't be searched, only scrolled through. Other failings like the lack of MMS, IM chat and video recording are even more mysterious.

The good: The Apple iPhone has a stunning display, a sleek design, and an innovative multitouch user interface. Its Safari browser makes for a superb Web surfing experience, and it offers easy-to-use applications.

The bad: The Apple iPhone has an average call quality and lacks some basic features found in almost all cell phones, including stereo Bluetooth support and 3G compatibility. You have to sync the iPhone to manage music content.

Despite some important missing features, a slow data network, and call quality that doesn't always deliver, the Apple iPhone sets a new benchmark for an integrated cell phone and MP3 player.
